I wrote this song years and years ago - at least 12. The sample is from Nina SImone and the music was produced and composed by Yoboy. When I heard the track I was a bit confounded - at the time i was yelling a lot when I rapped and I was doing music with a much more intense vibe. I saw this track as a chance to expand how I record and deliver the rhymes and how to still keep the density and depth of the lyrics while finding a more mellow presentation.
The verses are about hope and optimism in the face of hardship or obstacle. Seeking to find solace in struggle. Life is beautiful.
