Heaven 2021

This track is one of the most rooted and grounded pieces that i have written. not a bunch of metaphor and not flooded with abstraction.. this is about things that were happening in real life. The homie did jump (or possibly fall) off the roof of my building, my homegirls mother did try to take her own life, my other friend knew the guy that shot himself .. it was a time where I needed to use my art to process these thoughts and feelings
- i still wanted the rhyme pattern to be comprehensive and not lose thickness in attempt to hold narrative. The delivery is purposefully more conversational than fast paced and i try to emphasize certain portions of the verse by using the ad-libs to insinuate what is unspoken on the lead track.

some people don’t take what i say as serious
but life is precious a process, etherial priceless

there are some things that will never be explained or defined in alphabetics
the heaven and hell that exists in the mind clouded and shrouded by perspective

my homegirls mother just tried to take her own life and luckily did not succeed
i still cry for her
i have no idea the turbulence inside of her
the pressure breaks us
yet it creates us and shapes us
the mistakes are what make up my genetic make up
i fight every day to feel the pain and suffering happy that i wake up
i endeavor and remember the blessing while stressing and tense

a reoccurring self perpetuating cycle circle
including and concluding in continuity and continuum
the fibonacci sequence and spiral
a self fulfilling prophecy - suicidal
one of the homies jumped off the roof of my building and my roommate was one of his closest friends
have a look at my family tree with broken what do you hope for then
no hope for them
no body spoke for him
maybe things happen when the window off opportunity has a very small opening and you won’t

see a grown man in his mid forties filled up with deep depression, he looked death in the face
and pulled the trigger and now the kids have bigger problems that he was facing
now hes faceless
the progeny
at the wake standing over the closed casket unable to take it
life aint nothing to play
yeah
thats why i can’t take it for granted its sacred

i feel like a bunch of my friends like to push the limits along the edge of an acid soaked envelope
and will only find peace with an overdose no joke, laid out on the cold tiles of a bathroom comatose
they explore their own biochemical boundaries
i just hope they don’t face the same fate as colonists in Roanoke
i know its so morose but toast to the ghost that will one day float
until then celebrate

for real celebrate
